All Elite Wrestling has officially taken a major step into the streaming era. On Tuesday, AEW confirmed that beginning with All Out on September 20, pay-per-view events will stream live on HBO Max, marking the company’s first-ever PPV on the platform.

The show, emanating from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada, will be available in HDR10 and Dolby Atmos, delivering what Warner Bros. Discovery describes as “arena-like sound and stunning picture quality” for viewers at home. Fans who choose HBO Max will pay a discounted $39.99, while traditional platforms will continue offering AEW PPVs at the standard $49.99 price point. You are required to have a HBO Max subscription in order to purchase and watch the AEW Pay-Per-View, which some fans are not happy with the pricing, many were expecting it to either be included or a new subscription tier to be offered to compete with WWE's deal with ESPN.

Max Plans and Prices

  • Max with Ads: $9.99 per month (2 devices, 1080p)
  • Max Standard Ad-Free: $16.99 per month (2 devices, 1080p, 5.1 Surround)
  • Max Ultimate Ad-Free: $20.99 per month (4 devices,4K, and Dolby Atmos Audio)

In a significant programming shift, All Out was originally scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, but AEW announced on September 3, 2025, that the start time has been moved up to 3 p.m. ET. The change is designed to avoid going head-to-head with WWE’s Wrestlepalooza, which streams that same evening on ESPN. This decision makes September 20 one of the most unique days in modern wrestling history, with two major pay-per-views airing just hours apart.

Though long speculated, the HBO Max move officially deepens AEW’s six-year partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery. For fans, it also creates an additional incentive: subscribers to HBO Max ($9.99/month minimum) won’t just gain access to PPVs at a discount — they’ll also be able to watch AEW Dynamite and Collision without needing TNT or TBS through a traditional cable provider.

This announcement comes on the heels of WWE’s own seismic shift, moving all premium live events to ESPN beginning with Wrestlepalooza. Wrestling fans have voiced frustration that following every major company now requires juggling multiple subscriptions: Peacock, Netflix, ESPN, and HBO Max, not to mention cable TV access for SmackDown on USA Network. For many households, that pushes the monthly cost above $100 per month just to stay current.

🗣️ Wrestling.news | Backstage Take

AEW moving to HBO Max is a win for accessibility and production value, but the pricing model still leaves questions. Fans expected that HBO Max integration might finally drop the cost of PPVs into a UFC-style bundle, but AEW chose the middle ground: cheaper than cable, yet still pay-per-view. The earlier start time, though, is a fascinating wrinkle. By shifting to 3 p.m. ET, AEW dodges direct counterprogramming and gives fans a chance to watch both All Out and Wrestlepalooza live in the same day. September 20 now feels like a Super Bowl-style doubleheader for wrestling.
