AEW Dynamite Preview – August 13, 2025: Hangman & MJF’s Tense Showdown, Copeland vs. Stokely, and Moxley’s Cincinnati Homecoming

Tonight, the spotlight swings to Cincinnati’s Andrew J. Brady Music Center as AEW Dynamite serves up a stacked card with championship implications, hometown pride, and personal vendettas.

🗣️ Wrestling.news | Backstage Take
AEW is threading multiple feuds into one explosive night. The Hangman–MJF face-off is the headline grabber, but Copeland vs. Stokely is the sleeper—because let’s face it, if Copeland gets just one opening, it’ll be quick work. And Moxley wrestling in Cincinnati is always special, but Kevin Knight is no pushover. Add Darby Allin lurking around, and we might be in for a very unpredictable night.

Hangman & MJF – Face-to-Face

Two of AEW’s original pillars are set to stand nose-to-nose tonight. Since winning the Men’s Casino Gauntlet at All In Texas, MJF has been itching to reclaim the AEW World Championship—but without cashing in his contract… at least not yet.

Hangman Adam Page isn’t biting. He’s flat-out refused to hand MJF a title shot unless he earns it or uses the contract. After MJF’s controversial win over Mark Briscoe last week—thanks to a missed call by the referee—tempers exploded in a post-match brawl. Expect fireworks tonight, and maybe even the official announcement of their long-awaited rematch. Rumors are swirling that Forbidden Door at London’s O2 Arena (Aug. 24) could be the stage.

Adam Copeland vs. Stokely Hathaway

Thanks to a restraining order keeping Adam Copeland 200 feet away from FTR, the “Rated R Superstar” is forced to settle for their loudmouthed manager, Stokely Hathaway. With FTR barred from ringside, Stokely will be alone… and that’s a scary thought for a man whose AEW in-ring track record is far from stellar.

Sure, Stokely scored a win in last Saturday’s Collision trios match, but going toe-to-toe with a decorated veteran and former TNT Champion like Copeland is a whole different fight.

Jon Moxley vs. Kevin Knight

Cincinnati’s own Jon Moxley returns home after a gritty win over “Speedball” Mike Bailey last week. Tonight, he faces Bailey’s tag partner Kevin Knight, who has momentum on his side after a trios win with Bailey and AEW World Champion Hangman Page over LFI.

But there’s a shadow over this match—Darby Allin. Since returning at All In Texas, Darby’s been out for revenge against Moxley and the Death Riders. Will he strike in Mox’s backyard?
