AEW brought its final Dynamite before Forbidden Door to Glasgow, and the crowd inside the OVO Hydro was treated to a wild night filled with promos, returns, brawls, and big-time matches. With Bryan Danielson on commentary and the Forbidden Door card looming large, this was a show that set the tone for Sunday’s massive pay-per-view.

Ospreay Opens, Mox Confronts, All-Out Brawl Ensues

Will Ospreay opened the night with an emotional promo, revealing he hadn’t been cleared for Forbidden Door but declaring he would compete anyway, taking full responsibility for the risk. Ospreay promised to take “a pound of flesh” from Jon Moxley, leading to a tense face-to-face.

The confrontation quickly spiraled into chaos as JetSpeed hit the ring to back up Ospreay, Hiroshi Tanahashi made his entrance, and the Death Riders swarmed. This segued directly into the night’s opening trios match.

Hiroshi Tanahashi & JetSpeed def. Death Riders

Tanahashi, Kevin Knight, and Mike Bailey worked as a unit to overcome Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta. Despite interference from the War Dogs, Tanahashi hit a picture-perfect High Fly Flow to score the pin on Yuta.

Aftermath: The celebration was short-lived. The Death Riders and War Dogs laid waste to JetSpeed and Tanahashi until the Young Bucks arrived to join the assault. Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, Darby Allin (who shockingly appeared out of a body bag), and eventually The Opps stormed in to balance the numbers. The melee spilled into the crowd with Darby leaping from the mid-level onto a pile of bodies, setting a violent tone for Sunday’s steel cage war.

Copeland & Cage Reunion Interrupted by a Monster

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage reunited in the ring with Tony Schiavone, reminiscing about their history but admitting this reunion was born from necessity, not nostalgia. Just as the handshake seemed to solidify their uneasy alliance, Kip Sabian and Nick Wayne’s mother interrupted.

Nick Wayne appeared on screen to insult both veterans before introducing a monster back into the fold — Luchasaurus (now Killswitch). The big man hit the ring, demolishing both Cage and Copeland with brutal chokeslams to close the segment.

FTR vs. Brodido Ends in Chaos — Triple Threat Booked for Forbidden Door

The Tag Team Eliminator Finals between FTR and Brodido (Brody King & Bandido) delivered an absolute war. Brody King bled heavily early but powered through, while Bandido’s athleticism nearly earned his team the win.

The two teams traded near falls, but time ran out, and the match was ruled a time-limit draw. Tony Khan quickly announced that both teams will face The Hurt Syndicate at Forbidden Door in a three-way match for the AEW Tag Team Titles.

Post-match, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin appeared on the stage with the gold in hand, staring down their challengers.

Hangman Page Confronts MJF’s Threats

AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page cut a fiery promo, calling MJF a coward. MJF appeared on the big screen with Mark Briscoe tied up, threatening to set him ablaze unless Page agreed to three stipulations:

  1. The AEW World Title can change hands by DQ.
  2. The AEW World Title can change hands by count-out.
  3. MJF doesn’t have to use his contract to challenge for the title.

With no choice, Page accepted to protect Briscoe, but vowed to punish MJF at Forbidden Door.

Mercedes Moné & Athena def. Toni Storm & Alex Windsor

The women’s division was on full display as Mercedes Moné & Athena teamed against AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm and Alex Windsor.

Athena dominated stretches of the match with reckless aggression, while Moné showcased her precision offense. Storm and Windsor fought back with high-risk dives, but miscommunication opened the door for Moné and Athena to take control. Even with Mercedes tapping out to a Boston crab, she wasn't legally tagged in, thus giving Athena the opportunity to score another high impact move, and get the win.

Winners: Mercedes Moné & Athena, who stood tall post-match and gained momentum heading into their high-stakes matches at Forbidden Door.

🎙️ Wrestling.news | Backstage Take

This Glasgow Dynamite hit all the right notes for a go-home show. Ospreay’s emotional promo set up his steel cage war with Moxley perfectly, while the trios chaos showed just how combustible Forbidden Door’s alliances have become. FTR vs. Brodido was a show-stealer even with the time-limit finish, and now a triple threat tag title match raises the stakes in London. Meanwhile, Hangman agreeing to MJF’s sadistic stipulations adds major drama to the world title picture. And with Cena vs. Lesnar dominating WWE headlines, AEW made sure to deliver their own spectacle this week — reminding fans that Sunday could be one of the most chaotic Forbidden Door events yet.
