Backstage Update: Karrion Kross & Scarlett's WWE Futures in Jeopardy After Raw Absence

The sands of time may be running out for Karrion Kross and Scarlett in WWE — and fast.
After appearing at SummerSlam Night 1, where Kross suffered a clean loss to Sami Zayn, fans expected to see some follow-up on WWE Raw. But according to a new report from Fightful Select, neither Kross nor Scarlett were backstage at Monday Night Raw in Brooklyn — and the reason may be more serious than creative direction.
A WWE higher-up reportedly confirmed to Fightful that both Kross and Scarlett's contracts are set to expire this weekend, and — as of now — no new deals have been offered. Even more intriguing: Fightful notes that, to their knowledge, the couple hasn’t been officially told that WWE plans to let their contracts lapse.
Backstage speculation around Kross’s status has been swirling for weeks. Prior to SummerSlam, the former NXT Champion was said to be informing colleagues that his and Scarlett’s deals were wrapping up in August. That timeline now appears to be accurate, raising eyebrows about WWE’s next move — or lack thereof.
🧠 What This Means for WWE
If this weekend marks the end of the road, it’s a surprisingly quiet exit for a duo that once walked through smoke and fire as one of NXT’s most dominant acts. Their main roster run, however, has been a mixed bag. Despite returning in 2022 under Triple H's creative regime — following their 2021 release — Kross and Scarlett never found consistent footing on Raw or SmackDown.
Still, their recent involvement in Cody Rhodes and John Cena’s SummerSlam build hinted at a possible resurgence. If that was their final act, it’s a strange end to a story that always seemed one chapter away from greatness.

It’s wild to think that a former NXT Champion and one of WWE’s most visually captivating duos could be heading out the door without fanfare. Whether this is a strategic pause or a sign of WWE cooling on Kross entirely, the timing is bizarre. With Scarlett by his side and the right creative fuel, Kross always felt like a dark horse star. But in WWE’s current landscape, even main-event-adjacent talent isn’t safe from the contract shuffle.
If they do walk, expect their names to make waves — AEW, TNA, or even Japan could come calling quickly. This might just be the beginning of the next chapter.
