The summer of setbacks continues in WWE, and this time the injury bug may have bitten one of WWE's biggest rising stars.

During Night 1 of WWE SummerSlam 2025 at MetLife Stadium, Bron Breakker appeared to suffer a possible leg or knee injury following his tag team match alongside “Big” Bronson Reed against Roman Reigns and Jey Uso.

The match was built around Paul Heyman’s new faction going to war with his past. With Seth Rollins rumored to be sidelined since July 12 with a knee injury (before returning tonight to cash in his Money in the Bank on CM Punk), Breakker had been pushed as the de facto leader of Heyman's emerging group. That momentum may have now hit a painful pause.

🚑 Breakker Needs Help Backstage

In exclusive off-air footage, Breakker was seen visibly limping and needing assistance to return backstage after the match. While the exact nature of the injury remains unclear, the footage shows Breakker favoring one leg, possibly indicating a knee or lower leg issue.

The concern is real — and it couldn’t come at a worse time, with Breakker getting his most significant push yet on the main roster.

Wrestling.News | Backstage Take

Breakker’s injury is a tough blow, especially when WWE appeared to be grooming him for a dominant run through the fall. His pairing with Bronson Reed under Heyman’s guidance had all the makings of a modern-day wrecking crew, perfectly timed for a Bloodline shift in WWE’s narrative.

Insiders we’ve spoken to aren’t sure if this is a work or shoot just yet, but if legit, WWE may have to hit pause on one of their fastest-rising stars just as fans were getting behind him. Timing is everything in pro wrestling — and unfortunately, this one couldn’t have come at a worse moment for Breakker’s trajectory. Stay tuned to Wrestling.news as this is a developing story.
