Charlotte Flair “Hated” WrestleMania 35 Main Event

Charlotte Flair “Hated” WrestleMania 35 Main Event

In a rare moment of blunt honesty, The Queen Charlotte Flair opened up about her mixed feelings over the iconic WrestleMania 35 main event—a match that was simultaneously celebrated, scrutinized, and ultimately unforgettable.

🎭 Match Born from Turmoil

What began as separate rivalries between Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey unexpectedly converged into a historic Triple Threat showdown featuring Flair, Lynch, and Rousey. Their bout wasn't just another marquee match—it marked the first time women headlined WrestleMania, shattering long-standing barriers. Flair acknowledged the gravity of this accomplishment, stating that without Rousey’s star power and athletic credibility, the main-event spot might never have been theirs.

“I hated our ‘Mania (35) match. She (Ronda Rousey) liked it, I hated it… The ending. It’s all about the story. The match… But the story. The story was insane.”

A Performance She "Hated"

Despite the match’s historical significance, Flair admitted on the Games with Names podcast that she personally “hated” the finished match, particularly the ending. She emphasized that while the in-ring action was solid, it was the storytelling that stood out—and that was the element she struggled to fully embrace.

The Love-Hate Dynamic

While Charlotte Flair had mixed feelings about the match, Ronda Rousey felt the opposite, showing just how much professional wrestling relies on storytelling as much as athletic skill. Flair acknowledged the historic importance of the moment, even if the match itself didn’t connect with her personally. It was the story behind it that gave it real meaning.

Flair’s candid take adds a human dimension to what many view as a triumphant milestone in women’s wrestling. It’s a reminder that behind every historic match lies a complex tapestry of emotion, pressure, and storytelling that goes well beyond the final bell.
