Cody Rhodes Declares Bron Breakker "The Future of WWE" Ahead of Wrestlepalooza

The build to Wrestlepalooza has seen its fair share of hype, but one name is surprisingly standing out above the rest — Bron Breakker. The powerhouse competitor, currently aligned with The Vision faction, will team with Bronson Reed to battle The Usos on Saturday night. And if you ask the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Breakker is destined for greatness.
Cody Rhodes Endorses Breakker
During an appearance on ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike, Cody Rhodes gave his unfiltered thoughts on the second-generation star:
“I love Bron Breakker, and he’s not gonna like me saying this. But I’m glad you talked to him, because Bron Breakker is—I didn’t think this at first. And I don’t mean this with any disrespect. I do think it now though—he’s the future of WWE. He’s definitely someone that we’re positioning to be there as we go.”
High praise from the man who will defend his championship against Drew McIntyre at Wrestlepalooza.
Breakker Reflects on Sheamus and His WWE Journey
Breakker also appeared on Unsportsmanlike this week, opening up about his earliest test on the main roster — a clash with Sheamus.
“I think my ‘Welcome to WWE’ moment was probably when I worked with Sheamus. Sheamus is a guy that’s been around for 10–15+ years, a guy that is very well respected and someone who is really physical and takes a lot of pride in his work. He’s no doubt going to be a Hall of Famer one day… He makes you earn it, he’s really physical out there. I obviously enjoy that type of combat sports. I love getting in there.”
Breakker credited the experience with helping him grow as a performer, noting that Sheamus’ physical style sharpened his own in-ring edge.
The Bigger Picture
Tomorrow’s Wrestlepalooza is shaping up to be one of the most significant events in WWE history, thanks in part to ESPN’s heavy promotional push across its platforms. Yet Breakker’s spotlight raises big-picture questions. With John Cena on his farewell tour (ending December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event), and stars like CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins closer to the twilight of their careers than the beginning, WWE’s next generation is under the microscope.
Breakker’s upside is undeniable, but is he truly ready to be “the guy”? Insiders and fans remain split — some see him as a work in progress rather than a top-card attraction. The praise from Rhodes may accelerate that timeline, but expectations will weigh heavy in the months to come.
Wrestling.news | Backstage Take
Bron Breakker has every tool — power, pedigree, and presence. But stepping into the role of WWE’s franchise star is no small leap. Cody Rhodes calling him “the future of WWE” could be a blessing, or a curse if Breakker can’t live up to the hype. His tag match against The Usos at Wrestlepalooza won’t define his career, but it could mark the beginning of WWE testing whether he can handle the spotlight.
