Could This Be Their Last SummerSlam? WWE Legend Makes Emotional Reveal

As WWE SummerSlam 2025 looms large, one of wrestling’s most beloved icons may be preparing to lace up his boots for the last time on the grand summer stage.

At the SummerSlam Kickoff Event, AJ Styles—The Phenomenal One himself—dropped an emotional bombshell that caught fans off guard:

“If I’m being honest with you guys... this might be my last SummerSlam. So, I plan on tearing the house down one last time at SummerSlam for you guys.”

And just like that, the energy in the room shifted.

The 48-year-old veteran, who made his name in TNA Wrestling before becoming a cornerstone of WWE since 2016, has done it all: WWE Champion, Intercontinental Champion, US Champion, Tag Team Champion—he’s officially a Grand Slam Champion. But even legends must eventually face the final bell.

This Sunday, Styles is set to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship, possibly for the last time under the bright lights of SummerSlam. The match is high stakes—not just for gold, but for legacy.

AJ Styles: Not Wrestling Past 50, And He Means It

Styles has long been open about his career timeline. In a heartfelt interview with Chris Van Vliet earlier this year, he made his position clear:

“I’ve said this and said this, but I will not wrestle at 50. I promise you that.”

Turning 48 last month, the countdown seems real now. Sources, including Cory Hays of BodySlam.net, have also reported that Styles fully intends to retire with WWE, going out on his own terms.

If this is indeed his final SummerSlam, fans are in for an emotional night—and Dominik Mysterio better be ready for a Phenomenal fight like no other.

Wrestling.news | Backstage Take 🗣️

AJ Styles isn’t just teasing retirement—he’s preparing us for it. As fans, we’ve been spoiled with his timeless athleticism and big-match brilliance. But the truth is, the clock is ticking. If this is truly his final SummerSlam, expect AJ to leave everything in the ring. Whether he walks out with the Intercontinental Title or not, his legacy is sealed in gold... and Phenomenal.
