Drew McIntyre’s WWE Future Locked In — New Contract Report Debunks Exit Rumors
“The Scottish Warrior” isn’t going anywhere. Despite a public offer from former WWE writer Vince Russo and his new indie project, Juggalo Championship Wrestling (JCW), it appears Drew McIntyre is firmly locked into WWE for years to come.
Russo, never shy about stirring headlines, made waves this week after posting an open invitation to McIntyre — claiming JCW would “book him better” than WWE has in recent months. The post came just hours after McIntyre’s latest hard-fought loss to Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event, fueling speculation that frustration might be brewing behind the scenes.
But according to new reporting from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, fans shouldn’t expect McIntyre to show up anywhere outside WWE any time soon.
McIntyre’s Contract Runs Deep Into 2028
Per Sapp’s report, McIntyre signed a multi-million-dollar contract extension with WWE last year. The deal still has roughly two and a half years remaining, taking him through at least WrestleMania 2028.
“Outside of it being into the millions of dollars per year, we're told there's about two and a half years left on it,” Sapp wrote. “It was hinted to us that it was a four-year contract carrying him through WrestleMania 2028.”
That timeline means McIntyre’s future with WWE is secure well beyond The Road to WrestleMania XLIV. It also gives the company plenty of time to reheat his main-event momentum — especially after coming up short again against Rhodes for the WWE Championship.
Russo’s Attempt to Generate Buzz
Vince Russo, who has been largely out of the wrestling spotlight for years, recently aligned himself with JCW in an attempt to revive his creative career. His pitch to McIntyre was part business move, part PR stunt — designed to draw attention to the promotion ahead of its Hallowicked 2025 fallout shows.
While Russo’s offer was never realistic given McIntyre’s contract status, it did its job: it got people talking.
A Familiar Name Leading JCW
Interestingly, JCW already has a former WWE star anchoring its roster — Matt Cardona (formerly Zack Ryder). Cardona recently defeated 2 Tuff Tony at Hallowicked 2025 to become JCW Heavyweight Champion, a move that’s helped the promotion gain traction in the indie scene.
As for McIntyre, he’s made it clear that while he respects JCW’s reputation for treating talent well, his focus remains squarely on WWE — where he’s still one of the company’s most bankable stars and a reliable main-event attraction.
🗣️ Wrestling.news | Backstage Take
Vince Russo may have been looking for headlines, but Drew McIntyre’s WWE commitment is ironclad. Sources close to WWE tell Wrestling.news that McIntyre remains a “priority player” for long-term storylines, particularly as WWE maps out WrestleMania 2026 and beyond.
Backstage sentiment suggests McIntyre is happy with his creative direction — especially now that his heel persona has added new depth to his character. The Russo offer may have been a publicity stunt, but it highlights how valuable McIntyre’s name still is across the wrestling world.
With two and a half years left on his contract and a massive paycheck to match, The Scottish Warrior isn’t looking for a new battlefield anytime soon.
