Former WWE Superstar Makes AEW Debut in Glasgow

All Elite Wrestling pulled off a surprise this week and this time it was during the AEW Collision tapings, as former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Isla Dawn made her debut in front of her hometown crowd in Glasgow, Scotland.
A Hometown Moment
Dawn, who was released from WWE back in February, received a warm ovation when she walked out for a singles match against Megan Bayne. While she came up short against the powerhouse competitor, the moment was less about the result and more about the statement — a Scottish star returning home on a new stage.
At this time, it’s unclear whether Dawn has signed a full-time contract with AEW or if the appearance was a one-off as part of AEW’s UK tour. Either way, her debut adds intrigue to AEW’s growing women’s division.

From WWE Gold to AEW Spotlight
Isla Dawn is no stranger to success. Alongside fellow Scot Alba Fyre, she made waves as part of The Unholy Union, one of WWE’s most unique and successful women’s tag teams. Together, they etched their names in history by holding both the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Their crowning moment came at Clash at the Castle 2024 in Wales, where they captured WWE gold in front of a raucous UK crowd — a victory that symbolized the rise of UK talent on the global stage.
Now, Dawn’s AEW arrival sparks new questions. Could this be the start of another chapter for The Unholy Union, or will she carve her own path in AEW?
🗣️ Wrestling.news | Backstage Take
AEW’s decision to debut Isla Dawn in Glasgow was the perfect move. Even in defeat, the reception she received showed that fans are eager to see her back in the spotlight. Whether this was a trial appearance or the beginning of a new long-term run, Dawn brings star power and a fresh presence to AEW’s women’s division. If AEW wants to make a bigger splash, signing both Isla and Alba Fyre as a reunited Unholy Union could be a major coup.
