Veteran says he’ll be with AEW “for quite a while” — both on screen and possibly behind the scenes.

Montel Vontavious Porter — MVP — isn’t going anywhere.

The 52-year-old Hurt Syndicate leader revealed in a new interview that he has officially signed an extension with AEW, keeping him with the company well into the future.

Speaking to a Adventure Gamers, MVP said he’ll remain in AEW “for quite a while,” noting he hopes to expand his presence beyond his on-screen role and possibly transition into behind-the-scenes work as well. He didn’t disclose the length of the deal or whether his previous contract was a one-year agreement.

“I’m very happy where I’m at right now in my career,” MVP said. “At this stage, to be able to continue contributing to the business, make money with my friends, and entertain at the level we’re still able to maintain — it’s a blessing. I appreciate Tony Khan for giving me, Bobby [Lashley], and Shelton [Benjamin] an opportunity to get the team back together for a final run. The future looks bright.”

MVP debuted for AEW at Grand Slam in September 2024, reuniting the former WWE trio with Lashley and Benjamin. Benjamin confirmed earlier this year that he signed a three-year deal with the company, while Lashley’s contract length remains undisclosed.

The extension cements The Hurt Syndicate as a long-term faction in AEW — and positions MVP as both an on-screen presence and a potential advisor backstage.

Wrestling.news | Backstage Take

MVP securing a long-term deal with AEW is a smart move for both sides. The Hurt Syndicate instantly gave AEW a veteran-led, credibility-driven faction with proven chemistry. MVP’s presence helps anchor Lashley and Benjamin while giving younger talent a mentor with two decades of elite TV experience.

The interesting wrinkle is MVP openly talking about backstage ambitions. AEW has been steadily incorporating more veteran agents and mentors behind the curtain, and MVP fits that mold perfectly — respected, well-spoken, and able to see the business from both a performer and producer’s perspective.

If AEW leans into The Hurt Syndicate as a major act heading into 2026, having MVP locked down for “quite a while” ensures the group stays stable and creatively consistent. It’s a win across the board.
