Official Street Fighter Cast Teaser Drops: Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns Take Center Stage

Legendary Pictures and Capcom have officially dropped the first teaser for their highly anticipated live-action Street Fighter adaptation — and wrestling fans got a jaw-dropping surprise. Cody Rhodes will step into the role of the All-American hero Guile, while Roman Reigns trades the squared circle for the shadows of Akuma.
The film, shot for IMAX, is scheduled to hit theaters on October 16, 2026, marking the first release under Legendary’s new global distribution deal with Paramount Pictures.
Currently in production, Street Fighter promises to honor the quarter-pumping, button-mashing legacy of the 90s arcade classic while leveling up for a new generation. The story is set in 1993, as estranged fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are recruited by the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) for the ultimate World Warrior Tournament. What begins as a test of skill soon unravels into a deadly conspiracy that pits friend against friend — and unleashes forces darker than any tournament rivalry.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip), the movie vows to deliver Hadoukens, spinning kicks, and all the nostalgia fans crave, with Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns adding serious star power to the fight.

Casting Rhodes as Guile and Reigns as Akuma is more than stunt casting — it’s a power move. Wrestling and gaming fandoms overlap heavily, and plugging two of wrestling’s biggest names into such iconic roles could bring massive crossover appeal. The “American Nightmare” as Guile practically writes itself, and Reigns channeling Akuma’s aura has blockbuster potential. If Legendary nails the balance of nostalgia and modern spectacle, this film could be both a fan-service knockout and a mainstream hit.
