After a dominant 263-day reign as NXT Champion, Oba Femi’s run at the top came to an end last weekend at NXT: No Mercy 2025, where Ricky Saints captured the gold. Naturally, the question on many fans’ minds has been: what’s next for The Ruler of NXT?

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Femi will remain part of the NXT roster for the time being. Despite speculation that losing the championship might signal a main roster call-up, sources indicate there are currently no concrete plans for Femi to move to RAW or SmackDown.

That said, WWE has a history of springing surprise call-ups when the timing feels right, so the door isn’t completely closed on an unexpected jump. For now, however, Femi will continue to be a cornerstone of NXT programming.

During his reign, Oba Femi established himself as a force unlike any other on the brand—combining raw power with the aura of inevitability. Even without the title, he remains one of NXT’s most protected and credible names.

🗣️ Wrestling.news | Backstage Take

Keeping Oba Femi in NXT makes sense. While fans may be eager to see him mix it up with stars on RAW or SmackDown, he’s still building his mystique and sharpening his presence as a larger-than-life figure. Ricky Saints may be the new face of the brand, but Femi’s role as The Ruler isn’t over—it’s just entering a new chapter. Expect NXT to use him as the benchmark for new challengers and possibly as the brand’s most feared enforcer. His main roster moment will come, but the longer WWE waits, the bigger that debut pop will be.
