Report: Details on Andrade’s WWE Rumored Return and AEW Contract Status
The rumor mill has been running wild over Andrade El Idolo, but a new report has thrown cold water on recent speculation of a WWE return.
After weeks of uncertainty surrounding his contract status, multiple sources now confirm that the former WWE and NXT Champion is not in discussions to rejoin the company — despite whispers suggesting otherwise.
💥 The Real Story Behind the WWE Rumors
The talk of Andrade possibly heading back to WWE picked up steam earlier this month after conflicting reports about his current AEW deal and alleged contract complications.
It started when Wrestling.news first reported in September that Andrade had been quietly released from WWE earlier this year following at least one wellness policy violation during his most recent run. While it’s unclear whether that directly caused his release, sources noted he was suspended without pay before parting ways with the company.
Andrade shocked fans when he made a surprise return to AEW Dynamite on October 1, joining The Don Callis Family and seemingly reigniting his rivalry with Kenny Omega. But after that big appearance, Andrade mysteriously vanished from AEW TV again.
That absence fueled speculation that Andrade might be heading back to WWE — a rumor further intensified after Sean Ross Sapp (Fightful) reported that Andrade had signed a full-time AEW contract, leaving fans confused about his true status.
However, Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has officially debunked the WWE talk:
“According to those in WWE, the rumors that the company is looking to bring Andrade back aren’t true. One person near the top who would likely know said they’d never heard his name discussed. Another who would have to know said the story wasn’t true.”
While WWE often plays its cards close to the chest when it comes to returns, Meltzer noted that this particular case doesn’t fit that pattern — especially given Andrade’s complicated exit earlier this year.
🏆 Andrade Reflects on His Wrestling Journey
Even with his future uncertain, Andrade reminded fans this week why he’s still one of wrestling’s most passionate performers.
On X (formerly Twitter), he shared a heartfelt reflection on his 22-year journey in the business:
“On October 18, 2003, my debut as a professional wrestler. My first paycheck was $4 — 80 pesos Mexicanos. I was only 13 years old. All I cared about was wrestling and enjoying the business. I invested so much of my time in the business. When I was in Saudi Arabia, my mother passed away, and I didn’t get back in time to say goodbye.”
He went on to reveal that in 2025, while wrestling in Europe, his father nearly died — and he once again wasn’t there.
“These are things you do because you love the business,” Andrade wrote. “And this happens in many companies.”
Andrade’s words struck a chord with fans, reminding everyone of the sacrifices performers make for the industry they love.

🎭 Wrestling.news | Backstage Take
Andrade’s situation is one of wrestling’s great what-ifs. A world-class performer caught between two major companies, his undeniable talent is often overshadowed by timing, circumstance, and contract confusion.
Right now, AEW needs to use him — and WWE, for the time being, isn’t looking to bring him home. But Andrade’s passion, as shown in his emotional message, makes one thing clear: no matter where he lands, the man still lives and breathes wrestling.
Don’t count him out — when Andrade finally returns to TV, expect a statement performance.
