The Real Reason Jesse Ventura Didn’t Call the Action at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

Jesse “The Body” Ventura returned to WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event—but not in the way fans were hoping. Instead of joining the commentary team as he did in May, Ventura was limited to a short opening skit alongside Joe Tessitore before vanishing from the broadcast entirely.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ventura’s mic privileges may be on permanent lockdown. Back in May, Ventura called the steel cage match between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest—and didn’t hold back. He openly ripped WWE’s long-standing rule that allows cage match victories by escape, shouting, “What kind of BS is that?!”
That unscripted jab didn’t go unnoticed.
Sources say WWE saw the situation as a “fiasco,” and internally decided to cut his commentary privileges to prevent further live mic controversies. The outspoken legend, known for his no-filter takes in both wrestling and politics, may still appear in WWE segments—but don’t expect him back at the announce desk any time soon.

Let’s be honest—Jesse Ventura isn’t made for the modern, micromanaged WWE. He’s from an era when color commentary meant color, attitude, and heat. Today’s WWE prefers control, and Ventura’s rogue energy simply doesn’t fit that mold anymore. It’s classic Jesse to torch the playbook, but when you go off-script on-air, there’s usually a price. WWE loves nostalgia, but not when it calls out their own product.
