Update on the Reason Edris Enofe Requested His WWE Release

Update on the Reason Edris Enofe Requested His WWE Release

Another NXT name has parted ways with WWE. On Monday, Edris Enofe took to social media to announce that he has officially left the company, posting a heartfelt video thanking WWE and its fans for the support he received during his time in the black-and-gold brand.

Why Enofe Left

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Enofe’s deal with WWE had not yet expired, but he requested his release—and the company granted it. Insiders noted that while WWE initially signed him for his impressive physique and athletic potential, his progress inside the ring and on television reportedly didn’t meet expectations. This ultimately kept him off TV for long stretches and stalled his momentum.

Enofe’s WWE career largely saw him paired with Malik Blade, with the duo competing as an underdog tag team on NXT programming. Despite flashes of potential, the act never truly gained traction, leaving Enofe in a difficult spot when it came to breaking out as a singles star.

What’s Next for Enofe?

At this time, Enofe’s next move remains uncertain. Whether he chooses to continue wrestling on the independent scene, explore opportunities in other promotions, or move on from the industry entirely has yet to be seen.

For many released talents, the story doesn’t end with WWE—sometimes it’s just the beginning of a new chapter.

Edris Enofe’s release is another reminder that WWE’s developmental system can be brutal. It’s not always about talent—it’s about timing, presentation, and whether creative has a plan. Enofe clearly had the tools, but WWE didn’t see enough progress to keep him in the spotlight.

What stands out is how quickly WWE granted his release after he asked for it. That could indicate either confidence that he wasn’t in their long-term plans or respect for letting him move on without dragging things out.

For Enofe, the key now is whether he reinvents himself elsewhere. If he’s serious about continuing his wrestling career, promotions like TNA, MLW, or even NJPW Strong could provide him the platform WWE never fully did.
