Where Will Cena Say Goodbye? WWE Still Undecided on Final Match Venue

The 16-time (now 17-time) champion confirms mid-December retirement but WWE remains undecided on farewell venue.

John Cena has officially confirmed that his final WWE match will take place in mid-December 2025, bringing an end to one of the most iconic careers in professional wrestling history.

The 17-time World Champion — fresh off a history-making victory over CM Punk at Night of Champions — says this retirement is for real, breaking the cycle of comeback matches that have defined the farewells of past legends like Ric Flair, Terry Funk, Mick Foley, and even Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin.

“My last match will be in mid-December. We’re still trying to find a place to do it,” Cena told Page Six.
“We’ve already done 36 dates this year, and I think we’re just getting started.”

Though WWE has yet to make anything official, speculation is heating up that Cena’s final match will headline a special edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, potentially held at TD Garden in Boston — a fitting farewell in his home state of Massachusetts.

Before then, Cena is scheduled for one more high-stakes showdown: a rematch against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam. Rhodes, who earned the opportunity by winning the King of the Ring tournament, will attempt to reclaim the Undisputed WWE Championship after losing the title to Cena at WrestleMania 41, where Cena notched his historic 17th title win.

While Cena insists this will be the definitive end to his in-ring career, wrestling fans know better than to say “never.” Still, if this is truly the final chapter, WWE will be under immense pressure to deliver a sendoff worthy of one of the greatest to ever do it.

As of now, WWE has not officially confirmed the date or venue for Cena’s final match.
