History will be made in January 2026 when the Royal Rumble takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the annual Riyadh Season. WWE officially confirmed the blockbuster news, marking the first time the traditional Royal Rumble Premium Live Event will be staged in the Kingdom.

While Saudi Arabia has hosted major WWE spectacles before—including the 2018 Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah, where Braun Strowman stood tall and received the one-time Greatest Royal Rumble Championship—this will be the first official stop on the Road to WrestleMania 42 to come from outside the United States.

The Road to the Rumble Runs Through Europe

Before the 30-man and 30-woman Rumble matches shake up the landscape of WrestleMania season, WWE will embark on a whirlwind European tour. The Road to Royal Rumble will run from January 8 to January 19, 2026, with 11 shows across six countries in just 12 days.

The tour will kick off in Leipzig, Germany and conclude with a special Monday Night Raw in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Along the way, fans in Scotland, Denmark, England, and Poland will get their share of high-octane WWE action.

Road to Royal Rumble Tour Dates & Locations:

  • Jan 8: Live Event – Leipzig, Germany (Quarterback Immobilien Arena)
  • Jan 9: SmackDown – Berlin, Germany (Uber Arena)
  • Jan 10: Live Event – Glasgow, Scotland (OVO Hydro)
  • Jan 11: Live Event – Copenhagen, Denmark (Royal Arena)
  • Jan 12: Raw – Dusseldorf, Germany (PSD Bank Dome)
  • Jan 13: Live Event – Mannheim, Germany (SAP Arena)
  • Jan 15: Live Event – Newcastle, England (Utilita Arena Newcastle)
  • Jan 16: SmackDown – London, England (OVO Arena Wembley)
  • Jan 17: Live Event – Gdansk, Poland (Ergo Arena)
  • Jan 18: Live Event – Nottingham, England (Motorpoint Arena)
  • Jan 19: Raw – Belfast, Northern Ireland (SSE Arena)

Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Rhea Ripley, Tiffany Stratton, Randy Orton, Jade Cargill, and Jey Uso are already being advertised for the tour, setting the stage for a star-studded run-up to the Rumble.

Clash in Paris Success Sets the Tone

WWE recently wrapped its European presence with Clash in Paris 2025, which drew 30,343 fans to La Défense Arena. The show was a massive success both at the gate and in terms of international buzz.

Highlights included Roman Reigns defeating Bronson Reed before being ambushed by Bron Breakker, Becky Lynch retaining her Women’s Intercontinental Championship, The Wyatt Sicks holding onto the Tag Team gold, and John Cena defeating Logan Paul in what many are calling an “instant classic.”

The main event saw Seth Rollins retain the World Heavyweight Championship after Becky Lynch shockingly disguised herself to save her husband, screwing CM Punk out of the gold. The fallout from Paris is expected to ripple straight into the Road to WrestleMania.

🎙️ Wrestling.news | Backstage Take

This is a monumental move for WWE. Taking the Royal Rumble—a cornerstone of WWE tradition—to Saudi Arabia signals just how far their global strategy has expanded. The Rumble is no longer just a U.S. spectacle; it’s now a worldwide attraction.

But let’s be clear: this also places tremendous pressure on WWE creative. The Road to WrestleMania begins with the Rumble match surprises. If the Kingdom hosts the first official step, the lineup and results must deliver beyond expectations. The recent success of Clash in Paris shows international crowds will bring energy—but whether WWE can balance spectacle with storytelling remains the real test.
