WWE Legend Signs New Deal, Reason Why They Turned Down Major Event Appearance

Kelly Kelly is officially back under the WWE umbrella — but not in the way some fans might have hoped. The former Divas Champion revealed during a recent interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet that she’s signed a WWE Legends contract, while also clearing the air on why she declined an invite to appear at WWE Evolution 2.
Why She Said No to Evolution 2
Kelly explained that her decision had nothing to do with ego, as some “dirt sheet” rumors suggested. Instead, it came down to family priorities.
“It was the one weekend I had off with my kids. I didn’t want to drag them across the country, and they wouldn’t have been able to see me live. If it was in LA, I would’ve been there without question,” she said.
She also addressed speculation that she demanded a singles match:
“That could not have been further from the truth. WWE knows exactly why I said no, and they were totally fine with it. It was never about needing a match.”
Signing a WWE Legends Contract
Despite skipping Evolution 2, Kelly Kelly’s bond with WWE remains strong. Signing a Legends deal ensures her presence in the company’s long-term legacy, from appearances to merchandising opportunities.
“I have to thank WWE for my career. I wouldn’t be where I am without them. That’s why I signed the Legends deal — I’m appreciative, and I still love coming back.”
Dream Matches Still on Her Radar
When asked who she’d like to step in the ring with from today’s roster, Kelly didn’t hesitate to name names.
- Charlotte Flair – “She’s amazing.”
- Tiffany Stratton – “So much potential.”
- Chelsea Green – “I love that she’s bringing a little bit of the Divas era back.”

Kelly Kelly’s honesty here is refreshing. Too often, fans are quick to believe the narrative that veterans skip appearances due to “ego” or “demands.” The truth is simpler — timing and family. WWE locking her down with a Legends deal shows they still value her presence, even if it’s not in the ring. And while a full-blown return match may never happen, don’t be surprised if Kelly shows up when WWE hits Los Angeles or for a marquee event down the road.
