Show: WWE NXT
Date: August 19, 2025
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Commentary: Vic Joseph, Booker T, and Corey Graves
Philadelphia Street Fight: Josh Briggs vs. Yoshiki Inamura
The night kicked off in absolute chaos as Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura started brawling in the gorilla position before the bell. The two big men battered each other with chairs, trash cans, and even a Philadelphia Phillies baseball bat. Inamura lit up Briggs with sumo strikes and a crushing Uranage Slam, but the fight escalated when Briggs introduced steel guard rails and tables into the mix.
The finish came after a brutal sequence that saw Briggs plant Inamura with a moonsault through a table for the pinfall.
Winner: Josh Briggs via Pinfall
Backstage: Masha Slamovich Secures Referee Spot
In a FaceTime call with Ava and Santino Marella, Masha Slamovich was confirmed as the special guest referee for the six-woman tag match later in the night.
Backstage Interview: Trick Williams
Trick Williams told Sarah Schreiber that after defending his title against Moose at Emergence, he’s ready to beat Je’Von Evans tonight and then Oba Femi at Heatwave to become a three-time NXT Champion.
Ricky Saints vs. Jasper Troy
Ricky Saints and Jasper Troy fought a physical back-and-forth battle. Saints used speed and determination to counter Troy’s powerhouse offense. After surviving Troy’s heavy slams, Saints connected with back-to-back Tornado DDTs, including one on the floor, to score the win.
Winner: Ricky Saints via Pinfall
Backstage Office Segment: AVA, Hank & Tank, The Elegance Brand, and Masha
Hank & Tank pressed AVA about their Heatwave opponents, while The Elegance Brand lobbied to have Masha Slamovich removed as referee. Masha arrived in a referee shirt, clearly enjoying their frustration.
Jordynne Grace vs. Blake Monroe Promo Segment
Jordynne Grace delivered a passionate promo about her struggles and betrayal by Blake Monroe, promising to expose Blake at Heatwave. Monroe cut her off with smug insults, revealing a contract clause that voids the match if Jordynne touches her before Heatwave. Grace responded by decimating Monroe’s security but stopped short of laying a hand on Blake herself.
Fatal Influence vs. The Elegance Brand (w/George Iceman) – Six-Woman Tag Team Match (Masha Slamovich as Special Referee)
Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Jazmyn Nyx (Fatal Influence) clashed with Maggie Lee, Ash by Elegance, and Reckless in a heated six-woman tag. George Iceman’s interference backfired as Slamovich ejected him from ringside. The action built to a wild finish where Ash hit a Swanton Bomb, but Nyx managed to tag Jayne. Jayne drilled Ash with the Rolling Encore to seal the win.
Post-match, Ash argued with Slamovich, leading to a tense shove between them.
Winners: Fatal Influence via Pinfall
Backstage: Wren Sinclair, Charlie Dempsey, The Culling & NQCC
Charlie Dempsey gave advice to Kendall Grey, but The Culling interrupted, mocking NQCC’s dwindling numbers. Heated words were exchanged, setting up tension for future clashes.
Peace Treaty Segment: Ethan Page, Chelsea Green, Tavion Heights & Tyra Mae Steele
Ethan Page and Chelsea Green tried to host a “peace treaty” with Tavion Heights and Tyra Mae Steele, but things quickly broke down. The segment turned into a national pride debate between Canadians and Americans, ending with AVA announcing a mixed tag for Heatwave: Page & Green vs. Heights & Steele. A brawl erupted to close the segment.
Backstage: Lexis King & Myles Borne
Lexis King taunted Myles Borne about his disabilities before blinding him with pepper spray, escalating their feud.
Backstage: Lash Legend, Kelani Jordan, & Jaida Parker
Lash mocked Lola Vice’s loss at TripleMania and called herself the biggest threat to the NXT Women’s Championship. Kelani Jordan pushed back, fueling the tension heading into Heatwave’s triple threat match.
Backstage: DarkState, AVA, & Joe Hendry
DarkState bragged about their dominance but were reminded by AVA they backed down from Hank & Tank. Joe Hendry hilariously popped out of a locker, annoying DarkState and drawing another warning to stay out of their way.
Main Event: Trick Williams vs. Je’Von Evans (Winner Faces Oba Femi at Heatwave)
With NXT Champion Oba Femi watching from the crowd, Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans went to war for the No. 1 Contender’s spot. The match swung back and forth, with Evans surviving Trick’s Trick Kick and Trick Shot attempts.
Late in the match, Mike Santana caused a distraction, allowing Evans to capitalize. After hitting a devastating Box Jump Cutter, Evans pinned Trick Williams to secure his spot in the Heatwave main event against Oba Femi.
Winner: Je’Von Evans via Pinfall
