Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Drew McIntyre — Undisputed WWE Championship

The story between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre has evolved from respect to outright hatred. After their explosive contract signing on SmackDown ended with Cody getting powerbombed through a table, tensions have reached their peak.

McIntyre insists that “this is my story now,” claiming Rhodes represents “corporate America” while he fights for pride and redemption. But Cody — belt in hand and vengeance in his eyes — might be walking into this title defense more emotional than ever.

There’s also a wild card: Randy Orton is rumored to be in Salt Lake City. Could “The Viper” slither his way into this story before the night is done?

Prediction: Expect a brutal, personal battle that could go either way. But one thing’s certain — this will get ugly fast.

CM Punk vs. Jey Uso — For the Vacant World Heavyweight Championship

With Seth Rollins forced to relinquish the World Heavyweight Title after shoulder surgery, two of WWE’s most polarizing figures are set to collide for the vacant championship.

CM Punk is out to reclaim what he never truly lost — and redeem himself after his heartbreaking cash-in defeat at SummerSlam. Meanwhile, Jey Uso has stepped out of his family’s shadow, channeling his “Main Event” energy and a bit of that “Tribal Chief” ruthlessness to prove he belongs on top.

Punk told WWE Digital earlier this week, “I’m not here to be liked. I’m here to finish what I started.”

Between Punk’s volatility and Jey’s newfound edge, this could be the emotional match of the night. Expect chaos — and perhaps interference from names like Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, or even Jimmy Uso.

Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill — WWE Women’s Championship

The Barbie vs. the Boss of Bad returns for Round 2.

At SummerSlam, Tiffany Stratton cleanly defeated Jade Cargill, cementing herself as one of WWE’s top champions. But Jade is no longer the composed, cocky star we saw in August. Her recent assault on Stratton on SmackDown showcased a far more ruthless side — one that’s drawing comparisons to early-era Chyna.

This time, Cargill isn’t coming for spotlight — she’s coming for gold.

Backstage whispers suggest WWE Creative is high on Jade’s new heel persona, and tonight could mark the beginning of her first major title reign. Either way, this one promises a statement-level performance.

Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Penta vs. Rusev — Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat

“Dirty” Dominik Mysterio has made a career out of surviving — and tonight, he’ll have to do it again against Penta and Rusev.

Dom may have been born into greatness, but he’s kept his championship through pure manipulation. Every time fans think they’ve got him cornered, he finds another way to slither out — and tonight could be no different.

Rumors are swirling that John Cena could appear to confront Dominik after this match, teasing a Survivor Series showdown between the legend and the loudmouth. But first, Dom needs to make it out of Salt Lake City with the title intact.

🗣️ Wrestling.news | Backstage Take

WWE is bringing back that old-school Saturday Night’s Main Event magic — but with modern stakes. Cody and Drew’s collision could redefine what it means to be “the guy” in WWE, while CM Punk and Jey Uso’s title fight feels like a generational clash of fire and faith.

Jade Cargill’s transformation adds a dangerous spark to the women’s division, and Dominik’s reign of arrogance might finally meet its breaking point.

With Survivor Series: WarGames just weeks away, tonight’s results will set the tone for WWE’s final stretch of 2025 — and maybe decide who leads the company into 2026.
