WWE SmackDown Preview - August 29, 2025: Twists and Chaos, Sami Zayn Challenges Solo Sikoa, Go-Home Drama Before Clash in Paris

Two nights before WWE Clash in Paris, the blue brand rolls into Lyon, France, for a go-home edition of Friday Night SmackDown that promises to set the tone for one of WWE’s biggest international weekends of the year.

The LDLC Arena crowd is in for a loaded card headlined by Solo Sikoa putting the United States Championship on the line against hometown hero Sami Zayn. For Zayn, this is more than a title opportunity—it’s a career mission. The U.S. Championship has eluded him for years, and taking it from The Bloodline’s enforcer would be a statement moment heading into Paris.

Elsewhere on the card, The Street Profits face Melo Don’t Miz (The Miz & Carmelo Hayes) in a #1 Contender’s match. The winners earn a future WWE Tag Team Championship shot against the menacing Wyatt Sicks. Since uniting, The Miz and Hayes have looked surprisingly sharp, stacking victories over Fraxiom and even the Motor City Machine Guns. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins will need their best outing to stop this new duo’s momentum.

The women’s division is also in focus as Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles against Secret Hervice (Piper Niven & Alba Fyre). Flair and Bliss are still adapting to each other as partners, while Niven and Fyre bring power and chemistry that could easily tip the scales.

On top of the announced matches, the Lyon crowd will also see appearances from John Cena, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Tiffany Stratton, Jade Cargill, and LA Knight—all likely to play a role in shaping the final hype for Clash in Paris.

📎 Possible Twists & Breaking News

With WWE Clash in Paris just 48 hours away, expect potential surprise angles, last-minute stipulations, or new matches added to the card. Keep an eye out here for updated links to:

🎙 Wrestling.news | Backstage Take

This SmackDown is more than just a go-home show—it’s WWE’s chance to hook the European audience with emotional stakes before Clash in Paris. Sami Zayn chasing the U.S. Title in France feels like a genuine moment, one WWE could easily capitalize on for crowd reactions alone.

The tag team division also feels fresh with Miz and Carmelo Hayes adding a wild-card element. If WWE wants to shake things up before Paris, don’t be surprised if Lyon delivers one of those “you had to see it live” moments—whether it’s a shock title change, a Wyatt Sicks ambush, or an unannounced return.
