WWE SmackDown Results – August 1, 2025
📍 Prudential Center – Newark, NJ
🎙 Commentary: Wade Barrett & Joe Tessitore

🍻 Cena and Cody Make Peace with Beers and Blood Promises

John Cena opened the show with his signature “The Champ is Here” swagger, facing a thunderous mix of cheers and jeers. Just as he was about to speak, Cody Rhodes hit the ring. What followed was a rare moment of humility from Cena, who admitted his recent heel antics were a mistake and thanked Cody for forcing him to face his downfall.

Instead of fists, the two men shared beers and respect — just 48 hours before their brutal street fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Cody raised a toast: “Welcome back, John Cena.”

Wrestling.news Take: Cena’s promo wasn’t just emotional — it was legacy-defining. A symbolic “passing of the torch” or the calm before a war? Either way, Sunday is going to be must-see.

🎸 Jelly Roll Attacked at WWE Performance Center

Logan Paul visited the WWE Performance Center where Jelly Roll was training for his upcoming match at SummerSlam where he was laughed at, mocked and attacked and McIntyre was there to join in on the "fun"—doubt Jelly will let this slide though, remember he's from the streets.

🏆 Women’s U.S. Championship

Giulia (c) def. Zelina Vega
A fantastic back-and-forth contest ended with Giulia hitting a brutal Northern Lights Bomb after kicking out of Vega's best shots.

🏆 AAA World Tag Team Titles – Open Challenge

Los Garza (Angel & Berto) def. Mr. Iguana & Psycho Clown
A fast-paced lucha showdown saw Iguana and Clown bring the fun, but Los Garza retained after hitting their signature MTY double-team finisher.

💥 Damian Priest def. Aleister Black via DQ

What started as a technical clinic turned into a hardcore fight. Black lost his cool and threw a chair at Priest, earning the DQ — but delivered a brutal post-match Black Mass to leave Priest laid out.

💢 Tala Tonga def. Jimmy Uso

Tala picked up a decisive win after a brutal chokeslam, despite Jimmy’s valiant effort. After the match, Solo Sikoa called for the cage to lower, setting up a beatdown — until Jacob Fatu made the save, destroying JC Mateo and Tama Tonga in spectacular fashion.

😁 Backstage Drama

Tiffany Stratton & Jade Cargill Tension
Backstage, Jade made it clear she doesn’t want Tiffany’s help at SummerSlam — or her drama.

Flair & Bliss Tease Tag Title Run
In a surprising twist, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss teased forming a tag team with gold on their minds.

🔥 Logan Paul & Drew McIntyre Promo Interrupted by Orton & Jelly Roll

Logan and Drew ripped into celebrities using WWE as clout bait. But when Jelly Roll arrived—with Orton in tow—it exploded into another wild brawl that closed the show with RKOs and chokeslams to security guards.

🚨 Wrestling.news | Backstage Take:

This episode delivered everything you want before a mega PPV: emotional stakes, violence, surprise alliances, and pure chaos. Cena's redemption arc is compelling, Jelly Roll is winning over fans fast, and The Bloodline saga continues to cook. SmackDown was pure main-event energy from bell to bell.
