WWE SmackDown Results - August 29, 2025: Sami Zayn Captures Gold, Street Profits Earn a Shot, and Cena Fires Back at Logan Paul

The go-home episode of Friday Night SmackDown before WWE Clash in Paris delivered a mix of heated promos, shocking moments, and one major title change as the WWE Universe in Lyon, France, made their voices heard.

🎤 Logan Paul & John Cena Open SmackDown

The night began with Logan Paul, who once again declared himself the “disruptor” of WWE, claiming responsibility for the company’s billion-dollar partnerships with Netflix and ESPN. He mocked fans for resisting change, calling Cena “outdated” and even branding himself “WWMe.”

John Cena interrupted, labeling Logan “a dollar store John Cena” and dismantling his influencer bravado. Cena reminded Paul that without fans there is no WWE, and accused him of chasing revenue streams, not respect. The Lyon crowd erupted as Cena, in French, declared himself real — while Logan remained a “pretender.” Cena left Paul with a warning: if he doesn’t bring his best at Clash in Paris, “wrestling will ruin you.”

🎤 Backstage – Street Profits & Bo Dallas

The Street Profits, alongside B-Fab, promised to reclaim WWE Tag Team gold. But Bo Dallas, eerily detached from his Uncle Howdy persona, warned them that failure would test whether they were truly brothers.

⚔️ Alexa Bliss vs. Chelsea Green

Originally billed as a Women’s Tag Team Championship defense, Charlotte Flair was injured in a pre-match attack, leaving Alexa Bliss to face Chelsea Green one-on-one. Despite interference from Alba Fyre, Bliss scored the roll-up victory.

Winner: Alexa Bliss

Post-match, Green and Fyre brutalized Bliss until Charlotte hobbled out for the save. Her comeback was short-lived, as Green hit the Killswitch and Alba followed with a Gory Bomb, leaving the champions down.

🎤 Backstage – Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn cut an emotional promo, saying he felt like the man who once main evented WrestleMania and defeated Gunther. Speaking in French, he vowed to take the U.S. Title in Lyon.

⚔️ Mia “Michin” Yim vs. Kiana James

Quick action saw James attempt to use her purse, but Yim countered and rolled her up for the pin.

Winner: Mia Yim

Post-match, Giulia and James viciously attacked Michin, sending her into the barricade and stomping her face-first into the steel steps.

🎤 Drew McIntyre & Randy Orton Confrontation

Drew McIntyre accused Randy Orton of being manipulated by Cody Rhodes, suggesting Cody feigned friendship while gathering intel during Orton’s injury hiatus. Orton responded bluntly: “I didn’t drop you last week for Cody. I did it because you’re a prick.”

A brawl erupted, with Orton planting Drew with a hanging DDT and RKO’ing security staff — even agent Hurricane Helms. Drew escaped before Orton could punt him, leaving the rivalry at a boiling point.

⚔️ Street Profits vs. Melo Don’t Miz (#1 Contender’s Match)

In a back-and-forth battle, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins rallied with high-octane offense. With The Wyatt Sicks appearing ominously at ringside, Miz became distracted. The Profits capitalized, hitting the Revelation on Carmelo Hayes to punch their ticket to Clash in Paris.

Winners: Street Profits

🎤 Backstage – Tiffany Stratton & Jade Cargill

A tense exchange saw Jade Cargill announce herself as the new #1 contender to Stratton’s WWE Women’s Championship. Stratton bragged about being undefeated in 2025, while Jade promised to end her streak and prove they aren’t on the same level.

⚔️ Main Event – Sami Zayn vs. Solo Sikoa (United States Championship)

The Lyon crowd erupted as Sami Zayn challenged Solo Sikoa for the U.S. Title. Sikoa used his power and interference from the MFTs to dominate stretches, but Jimmy Uso and the “Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu stormed in to even the odds.

The chaotic ringside brawl gave Zayn an opening. After surviving a diving splash, Sami countered a Samoan Spike attempt, exploded with an exploder suplex into the corner, and connected with two Helluva Kicks to win the championship.

Winner and NEW U.S. Champion: Sami Zayn

The Lyon faithful sang Zayn’s theme as he celebrated his first reign as United States Champion.

🎙 Wrestling.news | Backstage Take

SmackDown delivered one of the strongest go-home shows in months. Logan Paul vs. John Cena feels personal now, with Logan’s influencer arrogance drawing nuclear heat. Drew vs. Orton is simmering into a bitter grudge match, and The Wyatt Sicks looming over the tag division adds a sinister layer.

But the night belonged to Sami Zayn. Winning his first U.S. Championship in France gave fans a feel-good moment that sets the stage for Clash in Paris to be one of WWE’s most historic international events.
