WWE Friday Night SmackDown rolled into Cincinnati’s Heritage Bank Center just one week out from Crown Jewel 2025, and the blue brand delivered a wild night of promos, contracts, and chaos.

Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Paul Heyman’s Prophecy

The show opened with Cody Rhodes rallying the Cincinnati crowd, only to be interrupted by Paul Heyman alongside Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker. Heyman, ever the manipulator, told Orton directly that tonight would expose cracks in his partnership with Cody.

Before tensions boiled over, Randy Orton slithered into the ring to back Cody up, setting the stage for the main event showdown later in the night.

Backstage Trouble: Miz and Melo Fracture

In a tense backstage segment, The Miz confronted Carmelo Hayes about leaving him hanging in their match last week. Melo flipped the blame, insisting Miz has been more of a roadblock than a partner. While they avoided blows—for now—the alliance is clearly cracking.

Sami Zayn Survives Aleister Black’s Onslaught

Carmelo Hayes initially answered Sami’s challenge, but Miz blindsided him with a Skull-Crushing Finale, leaving Hayes unable to compete. Enter Aleister Black, seizing the moment.

The match was brutal. Black unleashed his lethal kicks, while Zayn responded with high-flying resilience, hitting an Arabian Press moonsault and a crushing superplex. The action was back-and-forth until Damian Priest caused a distraction. Zayn capitalized, connecting with the Blue Thunder Driver to retain.

Post-match, Priest wasn’t done—he demolished Black with a Razor’s Edge through the announce desk, sending a chilling message ahead of next week.

Winner: Sami Zayn (retains U.S. Championship)

Women’s Tag Division Spotlight: ZaRuca Score Big

Alba Fyre & Chelsea Green vs. ZaRuca (Sol Ruca & Zaria)

An energetic tag team contest saw ZaRuca take the fight to the more experienced Fyre and Green. After quick tags and double-teams wore Ruca down, she battled back, hitting the Sol Snatcher on Chelsea Green for a huge victory.

Winners: ZaRuca by pinfall

Backstage, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss praised ZaRuca’s potential but warned them that challenging the champions won’t be easy.

Contract Signing Explodes: Stratton vs. Vaquer

SmackDown hosted the official contract signing between WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton and WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer for their Crown Jewel title clash.

Both exchanged respectful but confident words—until Giulia blindsided Stratton. Kiana James then pitched herself as a “business manager” for Vaquer, teasing potential betrayal. The chaos escalated as Stratton and Vaquer fought back, leaving the women’s division in turmoil heading into Perth.

Je’Von Evans & Rey Fenix Shine in High-Flying Tag Team Action

Je’Von Evans & Rey Fenix vs. Los Garza (Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo)

In one of the night’s most exciting matches, Evans and Fenix dazzled with aerial offense. Despite Los Garza’s underhanded tactics, the young star Evans hit the Neuralyzer followed by Fenix delivering the Mexican Muscle Buster for the win.

Winners: Je’Von Evans & Rey Fenix by pinfall

Damian Priest Issues Challenge

In a heated backstage promo, Priest mocked Kit Wilson before turning his focus back to Aleister Black, challenging him to a Last Man Standing Match next week. Priest promised he’d end Black once and for all.

Wyatt 6 Haunt The Street Profits

B-Fab tried to assure fans that the Profits were united, but a chilling Wyatt 6 video interrupted, with Erick Rowan warning them their “family will burn.” The Profits looked shaken as mind games escalated.

Main Event: The Vision Strikes Back

Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed vs. Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton

The highly anticipated tag main event delivered hard-hitting chaos. Orton took early control, but Reed and Breakker used their power to isolate Cody. After a hot tag, Orton hit a superplex on Reed, but chaos erupted.

At ringside, Seth Rollins blindsided Orton with a Curb Stomp. Reed followed with a crushing Tsunami Splash to seal the victory.

Winners: Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed by pinfall

After the bell, The Vision stood tall—but Cody fired back, nailing Rollins with a Cross Rhodes to end the night with momentum on his side.

Wrestling.news | Backstage Take

This SmackDown was all about setting the chess pieces for Crown Jewel. The Vision continue to dominate, but cracks could form if Orton truly begins questioning Cody’s leadership. Sami Zayn once again delivered a thriller, proving why the Open Challenge works so well, while Aleister Black and Damian Priest’s feud just got more personal. The women’s contract signing was exactly what it needed to be: chaotic, layered, and unpredictable—Giulia’s attack added another wrinkle to what could be the match of the night in Perth. WWE has momentum heading into one of its biggest international shows of the year.
