WWE Wrestlepalooza Streaming Update — What Fans Need to Know About ESPN Plans

As WWE Wrestlepalooza (September 20, 2025) draws closer, many fans have been left scratching their heads over how exactly they’ll be able to watch the first WWE Premium Live Event (PLE) under the new ESPN deal. Early reports suggested that any TV provider with current ESPN access would automatically allow login to the new ESPN DTC application via the authentication process. That has now been clarified — and it’s not that simple.

What’s the Current Plan?

For those still wondering, Wrestlepalooza will only be streaming live on the ESPN App via ESPN Unlimited.

  • The event will be archived for video-on-demand replay once the live broadcast ends.
  • As of now, the September 20th show is not planned to air on traditional ESPN TV channels, despite early suggestions otherwise.
  • Sources indicate that if there are any last-minute changes to make the show available more broadly, it will be decided within the next week.
  • WWE premium live events (PLEs) will be simulcast on ESPN linear television channels, beginning in 2026, alongside the new ESPN direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming service (this could change, and/or be select PLEs only—Again, Wrestlepalooza will NOT be simulcast as of yet).

ESPN Plans Explained

  • ESPN Unlimited Plan (Required):
    Cost: $29.99/month or $299.99 annually.
Includes all live ESPN networks and WWE Premium Live Events.
  • Provider Authentication:
If you have a package with select streaming/cable partners, you may already get access to ESPN Unlimited. Current supported providers:
    • Hulu + Live TV
    • DIRECTV (streaming only, not satellite)
    • Fubo TV
    • Spectrum TV
  • ESPN Select (Avoid):
The renamed ESPN+ service does not include WWE PLEs or live ESPN channels. It is a different tier entirely and won’t give you access to Wrestlepalooza.

🗣️  Wrestling.news | Backstage Take

This confusion highlights the growing pains of WWE’s new ESPN era. Fans assumed that if they already had ESPN through their provider, they were set — but the reality is only ESPN Unlimited (or a qualifying partner authentication) grants access. Unless ESPN and its partners roll out broader integration right before the show, Wrestlepalooza will remain locked to ESPN’s premium tier. For a historic first WWE PLE on ESPN, that’s a frustrating barrier for fans.
