Doug Malo Spotted on WWE SmackDown Months After Breaking Up Syko Stu vs. Raja Jackson Incident

Friday night’s episode of WWE SmackDown (Oct. 24, 2025) featured a familiar face for fans of the California independent wrestling scene. Doug Malo, a rising indie wrestler, appeared as one of the security guards who tried to separate Drew McIntyre, Jim Uso, and Cody Rhodes during their chaotic backstage brawl.

Malo, who’s been active across the West Coast circuit, has gained attention this year not only for his in-ring work but also for a viral real-life incident at KnokX Pro in August. During that event, Malo was the one who stepped in to pull Raja Jackson (son of UFC legend Rampage Jackson) off fellow wrestler Syko Stu, after Jackson reportedly lost his temper and threw over twenty legitimate strikes to Stu’s head following a work had gone wrong.

The altercation made waves throughout the wrestling and MMA communities, with many commending Malo for his quick intervention and professionalism under pressure. Jackson was later arrested and charged with felony assault.

Seeing Malo on WWE programming this week is a positive sign that his name continues to circulate in the industry. Many independent wrestlers get their first WWE opportunities as extras, security, or backstage talent—roles that often lead to tryouts or performance center looks if they stand out.

Wrestling.news | Backstage Take

Doug Malo’s appearance on SmackDown might seem small to casual fans, but these moments can open major doors. WWE frequently scouts independent talents through roles like these, and Malo’s reputation for composure and toughness certainly stands out. Considering how he handled a dangerous real-life situation earlier this year, it’s safe to say he’s earned his spot in the spotlight—no matter how brief it may have been.

Keep an eye on Malo. This might just be the start of something bigger. Well deserved.
