Jerry Lawler Speaks Out After Stroke: “The King” Grateful for Support From Fans and Wrestling Community

For the first time since suffering a stroke earlier this month, wrestling legend Jerry “The King” Lawler has spoken publicly, sharing his gratitude for the overwhelming support he’s received.
In an interview with FOX13 Memphis, Lawler revealed that the health scare struck while he was at his Florida condo. The 75-year-old admitted that he had not been taking his prescribed medication in the days leading up to the incident. The lapse resulted in a frightening ordeal where his vision faltered so badly that he didn’t even recognize his own home upon returning from the hospital.
Despite the scare, Lawler reassured fans that his condition is improving.
“I remember lying in the bed in the hospital and when people that I knew, like family members, came in and I didn’t even recognize them,” Lawler said. “People kept coming out of nowhere to thank me and to pray for me. All of that means such a great, great deal to me and I want to thank them for all that.”
This stroke — described by Lawler as “minor” — was his third in recent years. Still, the Hall of Famer insists he’s focusing on recovery and staying consistent with his medication moving forward.
Wrestling.news previously reported that Lawler returned home on September 11, 2025, and has been resting comfortably since. Hearing his voice and seeing him in positive spirits will no doubt come as a relief to fans across Memphis and the entire wrestling world.

Jerry Lawler isn’t just a WWE Hall of Famer — he’s Wrestling royalty, a man whose career transcends generations. While the word “minor” is reassuring, three strokes is no small matter, and fans should appreciate just how fortunate we are to still have The King with us.
His honesty about neglecting medication is a reminder of the fragility even our larger-than-life heroes face. But hearing him thank fans and speak about the prayers that lifted him up proves once again why Jerry Lawler’s connection with the wrestling world is so strong. He’s not just a voice of wrestling history — he is wrestling history.
