WWE Creative Reportedly Planning to Breakup Popular Tag Team

The winds of change could be blowing once again for WWE’s tag team division — and this time, it may mean the end of one of the most popular duos of the modern era.
Since Vince McMahon stepped away from his creative duties in 2022, Triple H has reshaped WWE in his own vision. But even The Game seems willing to tap into an old McMahon-era trope: breaking up successful tag teams.
Trouble in the Profits?
Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, The Street Profits — have been inseparable since 2019, bringing unmatched energy, charisma, and athleticism to the tag division. But cracks have started to show.
On SmackDown, Bo Dallas planted seeds of dissent in backstage segments, and those tensions carried over to Clash in Paris, where the Profits failed to recapture the WWE Tag Team Championships from the Wyatt Sicks. The match exposed communication issues and hesitation — rare for a team that once thrived on chemistry.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, insiders believe the split is coming soon. Dave Meltzer noted that while both men have talent, their futures may look very different:
- Dawkins has size and surprising agility, but faces an uphill climb to stand out on his own.
- Ford, meanwhile, has long been pegged as a potential world champion. His athleticism and star presence have many believing WWE will position him as a singles star.
Meltzer criticized WWE creative for cooling down the Profits’ momentum, arguing that their natural charisma has been stripped away over the past year.
Street Profits... y'all good? 🤨

A Triple H Creation Coming Full Circle
Ironically, it was Triple H himself who originally paired Ford and Dawkins together in NXT back in 2016. Dawkins even revealed in a past USA Network interview that Hunter personally pushed them to embrace their personalities and bring fun, hype, and energy to every performance.
Nine years later, after multiple reigns as tag champions, it now looks like Triple H is ready to see what his creation can do as singles stars.

If this split does happen, WWE must be careful. Ford has the upside of a future main-event player, but Dawkins cannot be left to flounder. We’ve seen far too many tag breakups where one man soars and the other disappears. The Profits built their brand together, and it would be a mistake to erase Dawkins’ value. Still, with Wrestlepalooza around the corner, it feels like the right time to test the waters.
